GSN has developed a proprietary technology that enables highly accurate testing for multiple genetic diseases from a single cell. This technology is being clinically tested and commercialized for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) during in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Currently the selection of embryos through PGD is based on expensive, unreliable, and severely limited data. Not only is accuracy a problem with error rates on the order of 10%, but the number of tests that can be performed on a single embryo is limited. With GSN's new technology, a single embryonic cell can be screened for both aneuploidy and multiple disease-linked genetic loci with error rates that are less than 1%.

Our initial customers are IVF clinics. Our PGD service will first be offered in 2008 through a select number of the leading IVF centers in the US.
