testing process
GSN offers PGD testing to couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). Our test, Parental Support™, uses information from the mother, the father, and the embryo in order to determine which embryos have the best chance to develop into healthy children. Testing is available through our partner IVF centers.
Testing Process for 24 Chromosome Aneuploidy Screening:
- Doctor referral
- Genetic counseling (phone call to answer questions)
- Parent sample collection (cheek swabs) using GSN collection kit
- Day 3 embryo biopsy - On Day 3 your IVF clinic will biopsy the embryos and send a single cell from each embryo via medical courier to GSN for analysis
- Results reported - On Day 5 your physician receives a report which identifies the most suitable embryos for transfer. Your doctor will use this report, as well as information about how the embryo looks (the 'morphology') to make a decision about which embryos to transfer.
Single gene testing will be run concurrently with the aneuploidy process and is expected to be available in 2009.
